How can I know if I am eligible to obtain an ID card at the Registro Civil?

Once your immigration benefit has been granted, you will have 30 days to schedule an appointment to obtain your ID card at the Registro Civil e Identificación. 

IMPORTANT: Once your benefit has been approved, you will have to wait approximately 10 working days before you are eligible. 

If you are not eligible within this period, you will have to submit a Siac request. 

Below, you will find a step-by-step guide to verify if you are eligible to obtain your ID card and schedule your appointment.

STEP 1

Go to registrocivil.cl and click on "Aquí" in Atención Extranjeros, as shown in the previous image.

STEP 2 

Then, select the option “Primera Cédula” o “Renovar Cédula” to obtain your first Identity Card or to Renew your Identity Card.

If it is your "First Cédula" you must enter Passport N ° (if it starts with 0 you must not prefix it).

If you are renewing your Identity Card, you will have to select the option “Renovar Cédula” and enter your Run number with the verification digit.

STEP 3

If you are eligible to obtain an ID card, the following message will appear:

"Le informamos que hoy xx/xx/2022, usted está habilitado para solicitar se cedula de identidad. 

RESERVE SU HORA AQUÍ"

Click on "Reserve su hora aquí"

STEP 4

Click on "Iniciar trámite" to request your appointment time.

STEP 5

Select "Cédula" and "Pasaporte".

STEP 6

Then select from the options "Renovación de cédula o su Primera obtención"

(Renewing your ID card or obtaining it for the first time), as needed.

STEP 7

Select the region and commune where you'd like to schedule your appointment, then click on "buscar".

STEP 8

The nearest time available in the commune you selected will be displayed. You will also be able to view available times in other offices.

STEP 9

Enter the requested information and click on "Ingresar solicitud".

STEP 10

Your time is already scheduled.

STEP 11

Finally, your scheduled appointment will be sent to you via email. You could save it or print it to bring to the Registro Civil. Remember to arrive 10 minutes early for your appointment.
